I’m a Book Cover Designer among other things… May 22, 2006

I don’t know how else to get it out to people other than pushing things really hard about the fact that I’m a book cover designer. I’ve pretty much split my website into two websites now. Dibolmi.com is my new website tht is focused more strictly on book cover design with hopes of attracting more independant authors and publishers. ChrisEsler.com is more for my personal thoughts and things I’ve learned about web design, programming, and general graphic design as well as some personal.

I’ve worked on book cover design for close 10 years now. My portfolio of books is close to 200 I believe. There are quite a few authors I’ve had the priviledge of working on their covers such as Dyanne Davis, Beverly Clark, Dar Tomlinson, Donna Hill and Gwynne Forster. Most of the book covers that I design are for romance, but I’ve also done book covers for autobiographies, fiction, non-fiction, sci-fi, and a few more.

My overall goal is to get to the point where I can do book cover design full time. Maybe find a publisher that will either get me in a longterm contract or to actually get a job at one of the big publishing companies. I’d like to mentor with Chip Kidd because he is a great inspiration for me as a book cover designer.

I’ve managed to garner support from a handful of authors such as Dyanne Davis, Deatri King-Bey, Crystal Hubard, Lasego Malepe, Martin Brant. I’m still trying to get more comments from a few others. Dyanne Davis even gave me a interview about how I got into book cover design - you can view the interview here.

So here is my declaration to the publishing community. I am a book cover designer who has a decent following. If there is any publisher, art directory, or creative director reading this, give me a call or shoot me an email about us doing some work together.
